Release | Understanding automatic machine freezing

Automatic machine freezing feature

Why do some of your machines no longer appear in your "Machines without backup" tab?

The machine "freeze" feature of the KiwiBackup backup software stops automatic missed-backup alerts from being sent for machines you want to keep but that no longer back up.

To prevent the "Machines on alert" tab, which lists machines that have not been backed up for at least 30 days, from becoming cluttered, we automatically freeze machines that have not backed up for 1 year.

However, these machines remain visible in your "Control room" or in "Contract management". Frozen machines are marked with a blue dot, while a backed-up machine is shown with a green, orange or red dot depending on the date of its last successful backup (see image).

How do you reactivate a frozen machine?

A frozen machine automatically returns to active status if it starts backing up again. In this case, there is nothing you need to do. Email alerts will also resume, allowing you to check that your machine is active again.
