Release | Dutch and Polish interface, scripts, advanced exclusions

Supercharge your KiwiBackup backups: automation with pre/post-backup scripts, expert exclusion management (double asterisk) and a multilingual interface.

Release | Dutch and Polish interface, scripts, advanced exclusions

1. Pre/post-backup scripts

You can now add scripts before and after the backup process.

Scripts let you run specific actions before or after the backup, depending on your needs. For example, you can use a pre-backup script to dump your database and include it in the Kiwi backup, ensuring complete protection of your data. Likewise, you can run post-backup actions such as deleting the database dump (since it has already been backed up, to free up space on your machine).

To use this feature, simply specify the path to the script executable in the KiwiBackup user interface, and the script will automatically run at the right point in the backup process.

You can use custom scripts in different ways to meet specific needs. For example, you can also use the two scripts to generate your own backup statistics, or to measure the actual backup time.

2. User interface available in Dutch and Polish

KiwiBackup is also broadening its reach by adding two new languages to its user interface: Dutch and Polish. This language expansion allows more users around the world to benefit from the KiwiBackup feature interface.

Whether you are a Dutch or Polish speaker, you can now take full advantage of all KiwiBackup features in your native language, making it easier to manage your backups and strengthening the security of your data without language barriers :)

3. Advanced exclusion management

This feature lets users specify more complex matching patterns for files to exclude from the backup. For example, using the double asterisk, you can choose to exclude all files with a specific extension in a given directory, or even all files whose name starts with a certain string of characters.

Suppose you want to exclude all text files in the various subdirectories of a specific directory on your system. Here is how you could use the double asterisk in the backup configuration:

/home/user/documents/**/*.txt

In this example, /home/user/documents/ is the root directory from which you want to start the backup. By using **/*.txt, you specify that you want to exclude all files with the .txt extension at any depth in the subdirectories of /home/user/documents/.
