Byte-level or block-level incremental, source-side deduplication, SSL encryption... this infographic explains in pictures all the steps a file goes through when backed up online so that it takes up as little storage as possible.

The software's "intelligence", a key factor in data backup

How does the intelligence built into the backup software make it possible (or not, depending on the technologies used) to reduce the data flow transferred to the secure online backup cloud to the bare minimum?

This infographic shows visually how, in the end, all these technologies combined limit both the volume transferred and the volume stored.

The volume transferred is thus reduced (on average) to 1% of the source volume each day. The overall stored volume, meaning including the days of history, which can go up to 90 days or more, is kept under control so that, on average, it does not exceed the initial source volume, despite the history.

Online backup, a green technology?

As a result, a 100 GB backup including 90 days of history will not exceed 100 GB of storage on the backup servers, thereby limiting costs for the company and hosting capacity requirements.

Not filling our data centers with useless information is undoubtedly one way to limit the runaway growth of data volumes stored worldwide, as the best data backup solutions make possible!
