March 10, 12:27 a.m.: the OVH site in Strasbourg catches fire. Despite the rapid intervention of the firefighters, the damage is extensive:
- The SGB2 data center is completely destroyed
- The SGB1 data center is partially damaged
- The electricity had to be cut off. All servers are taken out of service.
Kiwi Backup hosts its customers' backups redundantly across several OVH sites, including Strasbourg. Our platforms (Healthcare and standard) were affected for a few hours, while the DRPs were brought back up: loss of access to certain servers, destroyed machines…
Today, we are working on a full return to normal operation, which involves reinstalling machines and, of course, taking into account the improvements we can draw from the experience. It is this experience that we want to share with you, to let you live, from the inside, the management of a major and unprecedented incident like this one.
During this webinar dedicated to our lessons learned, discover how the crisis was managed step by step, from the announcement of the disaster to the present day, including the impact analysis, the activation of procedures, the resources deployed for the gradual return to normal and the conclusions to be drawn from the fire.
